India is one of the major users of trade remedial measures. Major product categories for which trade remedy measures were applied to protect the injured domestic industry pertain to chemicals & petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, steel & other metals, textiles/fibres/yarns, etc. The countries/territories involved in alleged trade distortive practices in their exports to India were mainly China, European Union, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Thailand.

 

India initiated a total of 1,175 trade remedy investigations from January 1, 1995 to December 31, 2021, including 1,100 anti-dumping investigations, 29 countervailing investigations and 46 safeguard investigations. Among the investigations initiated, India has officially imposed 767 anti-dumping measures, 13 countervailing/anti-subsidy measures and 22 safeguard measures
