The Directorate-General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into aluminium foil imports from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Thailand has stopped imposing anti-dumping tariffs on some imported steel from Việt Nam since June 7, 2020, the Trade Remedies Authority of Việt Nam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website on June 18.
The development comes after four years of battle for the market-economy status by China. The designation would have put the country in a stronger position in respect of its commercial and trade partners.
From the beginning of the year until now, Vietnam's steel industry has been receiving negative information when export markets started to investigate trade safeguards, especially to initiate avoidance of trade remedies.

The commerce ministry's investigation arm DGTR has recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on black toner in powder form, used in printers and photocopiers, from China, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei to guard domestic players from cheap imports.
