WTO issues compliance report on US EC zeroing dispute

It is reported that on May 14th 2009, the World Trade Organization’s issued its report regarding compliance in the complaint by the European Communities in the case "United States - Laws, Regulations and Methodology for Calculating Dumping Margins" involving the US’ method of dealing with unfairly priced imports.
Steel industry divided over safeguard duty

Steel producing and consuming industries are divided on the government’s decision to delay imposition of safeguard duty on flat and hot rolled steel. Countries such as Ukraine, Russia and China have been dumping steel in India at much cheaper rates. While domestic producers are selling hot rolled coil at about $550 a tonne, the price of the imported metal is lower at $430 a tonne.

China continues to bear the flood in steel imports

As per the latest statistics of Customs, the export of China's finished steel products dropped to 1.41 million tonnes in April down by 15.6% from March or 70.5% from that of last year. This is the forth consecutive month that China steel export stayed below 2 million tonnes reaching the history low since November 2005.
Dumping affects Indian SMEs: Industry supports probes

According to a survey by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), dumping of products from countries like China have affected one-third of firms located in North India. Sectors including sanitary ware, pharmaceuticals, and food products have been seriously impacted by the under-priced imports from China.
