According to a survey by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), dumping of products from countries like China have affected one-third of firms located in North India. Sectors including sanitary ware, pharmaceuticals, and food products have been seriously impacted by the under-priced imports from China.
According to PHD Chamber President Satish Bagrodia, the low-priced products are also affecting the market of Indian goods abroad apart from causing injury to the domestic industry.
Some ASEAN and South African nations are also responsible for the dumping of good into India due to the slackened demand from other parts of the globe. The small and medium enterprises are particularly threatened by dumping as they have already suffered significant financial losses.
The chamber asserted that the industry supported the government’s increasing antidumping initiations against rise in cheap imports.
