Overview of Trade Remedy Investigation by the US

WTO statistics show that the US is one of the WTO members using trade remedies the most. Products exported to the US that are frequently subject to trade remedies to protect the domestic industry include: base metals and articles, chemicals products, plastics, rubber... Countries/territories frequently accused of trade-distorting practices when exporting to the US include: China, India, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Japan.
The US initiated a total of 1155 trade remedy investigations from January 1, 1995 to December 31, 2021, including 841 anti-dumping investigations, 301 countervailing investigations and 13 safeguard investigations. Among the investigations initiated, the US has officially imposed 615 anti-dumping measures, 203 countervailing/anti-subsidy measures and 8 safeguard measures.
