Multinational corporations are focusing on investing in manufacturing plants in countries such as India, Mexico, Brazil, which increases competitors in Việt Nam's main export markets.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to continue investigating frozen warmwater shrimp imports from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam to determine whether the U.S. should implement antidumping and countervailing duties.

If approved, they believe the taxes will help secure a stable revenue stream for the State's budget and should be implemented in line with international norms. 

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Việt Nam's bivalve mollusk export turnover in the first nine months of 2023 reached US$98 million, down 11 per cent over the same period last year. Of which, clam shipments alone reached $62 million, a fall of 19 per cent.

The EU is the most valuable market for Chinese exporters. It is also one of the regions that initiates the most anti-dumping investigations against China.

On November 25, 2023, the Directorate General of Imports (DGI) of the Turkish Ministry of Commerce initiated an anti-circumvention investigation of anti-dumping measures applied to solar energy panel products originating or imported from Croatia, Jordan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The allegations involve the circumvention of anti-dumping duties currently imposed on similar products from China.

The enforcement of the CPTPP over the past five years has expanded markets, attracted investment, and provided a competitive advantage for export goods. However, it has also increased the risk of Vietnamese businesses being investigated for the application of trade defense measures.

After a period of stagnation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, many farm produce of Vietnam have recorded speedy growth in export to China so far this year and the shipments are predicted to keep increasing in the time ahead.
