The US’s Department of Agriculture (The USDA) has enforced the regulation on increasing about 15% of its inspection fee for the fresh fruits and vegetables that are imported to this country in the fiscal year of 2007/08. This regulation comes into force since 31st August 2007.

An article of the Act 1937 on marketing in agriculture clearly stipulates that whenever the USDA enforces any regulation on category, size, quality, or ripeness of domestic products under marketing requirements, imports has to do the same. Now, fourteen items must comply with import regulations and inspection requirements, including avocado, date (excluding the types are used in processing), filberts, grapefruit, kiwi, olive (excluding Spanish green one), onion, orange, potato, plum, raisin, table grape, and walnut.
