Vietnam’s seafood export markets in first four months of 2022

In the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s exports of seafood products reached nearly 3.65 billion USD, a sharp increase of 46.8% compared to the same period of 2021.

 

According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of aquatic products in April of 2022 increased by 10.9% compared to March of 2022 but increased sharply by 50.7% compared to April of 2021, reaching over 1.13 billion USD.

 

In general, in the first 4 months of 2022, the exports of this commodity group reached nearly 3.65 billion USD, a sharp increase of 46.8% over the same period of 2021. Particularly, the seafood exports of the foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) accounted for 8% of the country's total export turnover of this commodity group, reaching 292.76 million USD, up by 19%.

 

The US market was leading the list of Vietnam’s main seafood export markets, accounted for 23.3% of the country's total export turnover of this commodity group, reaching nearly 849.86 million USD, a sharp increase of 75.7% over the same period of 2021; of which, the figure of April of 2022 alone reached 275.58 million USD, up by 20.4% compared to March of 2022 and increased strongly by 85% compared to April of 2021.

 

The second place in turnover was the Chinese market, accounting for 14.6%, reaching nearly 533.67 million USD, up by 110.6%. In April of 2022 alone, the country’s exports of seafood to this market reached 210.49 million USD, up by 15% compared to March of 2022 and a very strong increase of 128.3% compared to April of 2021.

 

The next was the Japanese market. In April of 2022, the country’s exports of seafood to Japan increased by 3.3% compared to March of 2022 and increased by 16.9% compared to April of 2021, reaching 142.98 million USD. In the first 4 months of 2022, the country’s exports of seafood to this market also increased by 14.2% over the same period of 2021; reached 490.2 million USD, accounting for 13.4% of the total turnover.

 

The seafood exports to the FTA RCEP market in the first four months of 2022 increased sharply by 41.9% compared to the first four months of 2021, reaching 1.69 billion USD. Meanwhile, the exports to the FTA CPTTP market increased by 29.3%, reaching 905.59 million USD; and the exports to the EU market accounted for 11% of the country's total seafood export turnover, reaching over 399.97 million USD, a sharp increase of 47.6%.
