Turkey Extends Anti-Dumping Duties on Indonesian Flooring Exports

Turkey has extended the imposition of 25 per cent anti-dumping duties on Indonesia`s pre-finished engineered laminated flooring for another five years.
The tariff of the anti-dumping duties is the same as that imposed on the Indonesian commodity since July 8, 2006, the Indonesian Trade Ministry said in a press statement on Thursday.
The decision to extend the levy comes after an investigation by Turkish authorities to review the imposition of anti-dumping duties on the commodity at the request of several Turkish companies including Parke-Tek Parke Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S and Karabacak Parke-Kereste Imalat Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd. .Sti. on June 2, 2011.
The two companies claimed that they suffered losses due to the import of pre-finished engineering laminated flooring materials from several countries including Indonesia.
The ministry said the government has informed the Indonesian companies involved in export of these products and urged them to cooperate with the Turkish authorities during the investigation process.
The Indonesian companies, however, rejected to respond to the claim on grounds they have not exported pre-finished engineered laminated flooring materials to Turkey over the past few years.
According to the Trademap data, Indonesia`s pre-finished engineered laminated flooring exports to Turkey were valued at US$927,000 in 2008. The figure fell to US$508,000 in 2009 and slipped to US$285,000 in 2010.
Indonesia now ranks 15th as the supplier of this commodity to Turkey. The other suppliers of the commodity are Italy, Poland, and China.
