Abstract
The BRICS countries are some of the most prominent users of trade remedies and safeguards. Out of all the developing countries these are also economies mostly affected by anti-dumping measures, countervailing duties and safeguards, especially exports from China. The statistical databases of the WTO on AD measures, countervailing duties and safeguards show the prominent role BRICS countries play in the utilization of multilateral trade remedies and safeguards.
This paper aims to look at the use of multilateral trade remedies and safeguards with Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa as either exporting or reporting WTO member countries in order to establish their role and importance in the utilization of these measures.
