Thailand has officially extended anti-dumping duties on hot rolled coil, sheet and plate from China and Malaysia by another five years effective 12 July, Kallanish notes.
The targeted goods are hot rolled sheet/coil with a thickness of 0.9-100mm and width of 100-3,200mm, and cover 162 items starting with HS code 7208.
All imports from China are levied with antidumping duties of 30.91%. For imports from Malaysia, the duty on the targeted products from Megasteel is 23.57% and from all other Malaysian producers at 42.51%.
The duties were first implemented for five years from August 2011 and renewed on 23 June 2017 for another five years. The latest extension was a formality after the Thai Commerce Ministry determined in May that the duties on hot rolled coil and plate from China and Malaysia are to be extended by another five years.
“It was expected after anti-dumping duties were also extended [last month] for imports from Iran, Turkey and Brazil,” a Bangkok trader said on Tuesday.
