After struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam's textile and garment industry has achieved impressive export achievements in the first half of 2022. However, the road ahead still contains many challenges, threatening the annual export targets of this industry.

Vietnam’s aquatic exports spiked 40% year-on-year to reach nearly 5.8 billion USD in the first half of 2022, the Vietnamese Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has reported.
 

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said that the potential for production and export of Vietnam's fish sauce is extremely large and proposed to form fishing fleets specializing in fishing for fish sauce production, as well as to diversify products to serve many markets with various tastes.

Viet Nam’s  tra fish export increased by 83.2 per cent in the first half of this year, with exports to the UK increasing six-fold.

The Moroccan government may impose anti-dumping duty (ADD) on carpets imported from China, Egypt and Jordan, as the ministry of industry and trade has recommended imposition of ADD on carpets and floorings. At the end of an anti-dumping investigation, the ministry has suggested highest duty rate 144 per cent on carpets imported from China.

Food prices in the world rose to their highest ever levels after nearly 30 countries announced to restrict food export. In that context, being a major exporter of agricultural products, Vietnam is considered to have many opportunities to accelerate and boost the supply of commodities such as rice, and seafood. However, the input materials for these industries imported into Vietnam are currently disrupted.

According to the Trade Remedies Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Philippine Tariff Commission has issued its final conclusion in the investigation of the global safeguard measures against HDPE pellets and granules classified under ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) Code. 3901.20.00, which are imported from many countries, including Vietnam.

South Korea had faced a total of 199 import restrictions from 26 trading partners as of end-June amid continued protectionism, the trade ministry said Friday.
