The EU plans to implement the world’s first carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) from October 2023. During the transition period, the scheme will require importers to report the embedded carbon in their imported goods. From 2026, additional taxes will be levied on imported goods to bridge the gap between the EU’s carbon price and the price in exporting countries.

On 25 April 2023, a petition for anti-dumping duties (“Petition”) was filed before the United States (“US”) Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission to initiate anti-dumping duties investigations on certain boltless steel shelving allegedly dumped from Malaysia, India, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The Petition was filed by Edsal Manufacturing Co., Inc. (“Petitioner”), the largest producer of boltless steel shelving in the US.
