Mexico on Saturday began imposing a 50% tariff on white corn imports, a move the president says looks to boost national production and prevent imports of genetically modified corn.

To proactively and promptly deal with the congestion of exported agricultural products in the northern border provinces, the General Department of Customs directed local customs units: Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Ha Giang and Dien Bien to capture information and continue to implement solutions to facilitate the export of agricultural products.
