India has extended its countervailing duty on import of ‘Atrazine Technical’ from China that is used in pesticides, for an additional five years to protect domestic manufacturers. This decision follows a recommendation from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the commerce ministry’s investigative arm, which advised the continuation of the duty on imports of this chemical from China.

In response to the European Union's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese-made battery electric vehicles, China has vowed to continue negotiation efforts until the very last moment to resolve the matter, said Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao on Thursday.

India has come under scrutiny from several countries, including the US, UK, Japan, and Canada, at the World Trade Organization (WTO) over its export restrictions and agricultural subsidies, according to a report by The Economic Times. These countries are seeking clarifications from India on multiple fronts.

The United States and Vietnam are seeking agricultural windfalls in their respective markets, with high-quality products on the back of growing demands of both sides.

China said on Wednesday (Sept. 18) it will end tariff exemptions on 34 agricultural and aquacultural products from Taiwan, a move Taipei called "economic coercion.”

China's commerce minister, Wang Wentao, stated that Beijing will persist in negotiations on the EU's electric vehicle probe until the last moment. The investigation has shaken Chinese investors' confidence in Europe. Wang spoke at a Brussels event and is set to meet the EU's trade commissioner to address trade tensions.
