Imports of animal feed and animals fell 12.9% in first four months

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached over 1.43 billion USD, down by 12.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2021.

 

According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam in April of 2022 decreased slightly by 4.6% compared to March of 2022 and also decreased by 10.2% compared to April of 2021, reaching 393.74 million USD.

 

In the whole first 4 months of 2022, the country’s imports of this commodity group reached over 1.43 billion USD, down by 12.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2021.

 

The imports of animal feed and raw materials from Argentina accounted for 26.6% of the country's total import turnover of this commodity group, reaching over 381.31 million USD, down by 29.5% over the same period of 2021; in which the imports in April of 2022 alone reached 117.02 million USD, up by 23.6% compared to March of 2022 but down by 23.3% compared to April of 2021.

 

The imports of animal feed and materials from Brazilian market accounted for 20.6%, reaching over 295.76 million USD, a sharp increase of 148.6%. In April of 2022 alone, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from this market reached 85.46 million USD, down by 5.4% compared to March of 2022 and down by 5.6% compared to April of 2021.

 

Meanwhile, the imports of animal feed and materials from the US market in April of 2022 dropped sharply by 42.4% compared to March of 2022 and decreased by 23.3% compared to April of 2021, reaching 35.78 million USD. In the first 4 months of 2022, the imports of animal feed and materials from this market decreased sharply by 43.4% compared to the same period of 2021; reached 182.18 million USD, accounting for over 12.7% of the total turnover.

 

Besides, the imports of animal feed and raw materials from the EU in the first four months of 2022 decreased by 11.9% compared to the first four months of 2021, reaching 127.62 million USD; and the imports from Southeast Asia market increased by 9.8%, reaching 125 million USD.

 

 

On the other hand, the country’s exports of animal feed and raw materials to markets in April of 2022 reached 102.05 million USD, down by 8% compared to March of 2022. In the first 4 months of 2022, the country’s exports of animal feed and materials reached 374.17 million USD, an increase of 24.2% compared to the first 4 months of 2021. Thus, Vietnam had a trade deficit of 1.06 billion USD in animal feed and raw materials trade, down by 21.2% over the same period of 2021.
