EU Commission initiates anti-subsidy investigation

The European Commission recently initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on China's new energy vehicles, and China has noticed that the sampling is not compliant with standards and the results are unfair, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

The products under investigation are new energy vehicles manufactured by three local Chinese companies. The sampling is inconsistent with the standards and the investigation process is not transparent, which is suspected of violating the rules of the World Trade Organization, the ministry said.

He Yadong, spokesman of the ministry, said during a news conference in Beijing that such a measure is a discriminatory approach toward Chinese electric vehicle companies.

In addition, the European Commission excluded EU member states enterprises with high production volumes and sales in its sampling of EU electric vehicle makers, and the sampling results cannot represent the objective situation, the ministry said.
