DGAD initiates 14 anti-dumping cases involving China

New Delhi, Feb 18 The Director General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) has initiated 14 anti-dumping cases involving China in this fiscal year, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
"In two of these cases, preliminary findings have been issued," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh said in a written reply.
He also said India&aposs imports from China were to the tune of Rs 59,699 crore in the first five months of this fiscal.
DGAD initiates anti-dumping investigations on petitions from the domestic industry with prima-facie evidence of dumping in the country, injury to domestic industry and casual link between the dumped goods and injury.
After investigation, DGAD submits its preliminary findings to the Department of Revenue, the Ministry of Finance, recommending wherever appropriate, the amount of anti-dumping duty to be levied, Ramesh said.
" Acting upon such recommendations of DGAD, the Department of Revenue may impose the provisional or definitive duties, he said.
India&aposs imports from China in 2007-08 was estimated at Rs 1,09,116 crore.
