Workshop helps Vietnam better integrate into WTO

A workshop on WTO regulations opened in Hanoi on August 4, offering Vietnamese officials a chance to fully understand how to implement the WTO’s obligations and procedures.

Speaking at the workshop, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu said that Vietnam has attached great importance to implementing the WTO’s obligations, including the periodic notification of the country’s changes on regulations and objectives, which helps make the trade policies of WTO member countries transparent.

Participants discussed issues related to WTO agreements such as tariffs and non-tariff barriers, the licensing of imports, services, export subsidies, support for the agricultural sector and state-run trade enterprises, regional trade agreements, anti-dumping, quarantine measures and intellectual property rights.

The three-day event is jointly held by the EU-Vietnam Multilateral Trade Assistance Project (EU-Vietnam MUTRAP III), the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation and the WTO Secretariat.
