US extends the imposition of anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese shrimps

(VOV) - The Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoIT) says that the US International Trade Commission (US ITC) has officially voted to approve the final decision on continuing to impose anti-dumping duties on frozen warmwater shrimps imported from Vietnam, China, Thailand, India, and Brazil.

According to the USITC, the decision was made due to the likelihood of huge losses in the US shrimp industry, had the anti-dumping duties been removed.

Earlier on December 7, 2010, the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) issued the final decision on the Sunset Review concluding that the removal of anti-dumping duties on shrimps imported from China, Thailand, India, Brazil, Ecuador and Vietnam might lead to the recurrence of anti-dumping behavior.

As a result of the voting, DOC will extend its imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on shrimps imported from Vietnam, China, Thailand, India, and Brazil for five years.
