Ukraine Plans to Impose Duties on Oil Products to Limit Imports
24/01/2011 12:00
Ukraine may impose duties on oil products to limit imports after they reached 45 percent of consumption in 2010, the acting head of the country’s oil department said.
The Energy and Coal Ministry filed a request with the Economy Ministry to start an antidumping investigation against importers and to impose the duty, Kostyantyn Borodin told reporters in Kiev today. The duty may be set at 130 euros ($174) a metric ton of petroleum and 80 euros per ton of diesel fuel, he said.
The measure, which may start within six weeks, will help bring oil-product imports to less than 10 percent, Borodin said. Ukraine imported 4.5 million tons of oil products last year.
