Turkish anti-dumping duty on Pak textile from July 24: Dr Baig

KARACHI: The Consul of Ministers, government of Turkey has agreed to enforce protective safeguard measures on the import of Pakistani textile to Turkey with effect from 24th July 2011, says a press release on Saturday.
As per the decision there will be additional 18% custom duty to be charged on the import of denim fabric from Pakistan, making total duty 24.5%.
Above measures are taken to protect the local textile industry of Turkey. The decision will be enforced from 120th day of the publication of the gazette i.e. 24th July 2011.
Dr Baig advised our exporters to promptly ship our textile goods arriving Turkey before 24th July 2011 to avoid additional duty to be charged on the export of our denim fabric from Pakistan.
