For wooden furniture, the export revenue from January to April 2008 reached $1.396 billion, a 7.1% increase from 2007, the export products decreased 5.3% compared with 2007, totaling 40.1992 million. The unit price of exported furniture increased.

Chen Baoguang, the vice president of the China National Furniture Association, attended the China Furniture Industrial Development and Reform Seminar held during the 13th China International Furniture Exhibition in Dalian on 12th June, 2008 and gave a report on the furniture development in China. He pointed the five conflicts in China Furniture Industry: the conflict between new economy increase mode and old economy style, conflict between the new request on the environmental protection and present technology, conflict between new system of creation and simple copy, conflict between traditional industry and transformation to the modernization, conflict between present sales style and demand style. Besides, he gave Chinese furniture enterprises some suggestions. He said:“As the American Anti-Dumping and subprime mortgage crisis, some enterprises who used to exported to America can take this chance to adjust their export market to domestic, middle-east and southern Asia countries. The furniture enterprises should pay more attention to the science and technology to decrease cost of raw material and labor. ”

In the seminar, Professor Liu Xiaohong, from the Shunde Polytechnic College,give a report on the trend of information-based production. She concluded:“Enterprises should reform their manufacture mode and put the information technology into the manufacture management, finally win more markets and profit.”
