According to Department of Commerce, Shanxi Province that US decided to launch antidumping and countervailing investigations on China made drill pipes. As per preliminary verification, there are seven enterprises in Shanxi province involved in this case
As per report, the US Steelworkers Labor Union, American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organization and other 4 US steel drill pipe producers have formally filed application to US International Trade Commission and Department of Commerce seeking antidumping and countervailing duties against drill pipes imported from China earlier on December 31st 2009.
The seven case involving enterprises in Shanxi province are Shanxi Tengfei Petroleum Drilling Tools Manufacturing Co Ltd, Shanxi Dajin International Co Ltd, Shanxi Fenglei Drilling Tools Co Ltd, Shanxi Golden Diamond Petroleum Drill Tools Manufacturing Co Ltd, Shanxi Huanjie Petroleum Drill Tools Manufacturing Co Ltd, Shanxi Weigao Petroleum Drilling Tool Manufacturing Co Ltd and Shanxi Weida Petroleum Facility Manufacturing Co Ltd.
The data shows, US believe that the US market is damaged by reason of Chinese imports of drill pipe which was sold at less than fair value and alleged to be subsidized by the government of China. The petition is the most recent of many filed against Chinese steel imports allegedly being dumped into the US market, causing loss of jobs and plant closures. Besides, US imported drill pipes from China totaled a value of USD 200 million in 2008 and the insiders didn't believe that USD 200 million market share occupied by China-made products would damage the US market.
The US CVD investigation on China made drill pipes, a move that threatens to escalate trade tensions between the two countries. And China should continue carrying out WTO principles to protect its own interests, enhancing the added value of products in the future.
