Request ASEM to acknowledge Vietnam as market economy

Delivery speech at the eighth ASEM Minister of Foreign Affairs Conference held in Hamburg (German) from 28 to 29 May, Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem requested ASEM members soon acknowledge Vietnam as market economy as ASEAN did.
Mentioning further deepen economic partnership between Asia and Europe, Mr. Khiem also proposed to carry out Hanoi Declaration on Closer Economic Partnership between Asia and Europe (CEP) and co-ordinate to speed up DOHA round.
To promote active and positive position in ASEM, Vietnam delegation offered to host ASEM Minister of Foreign Affairs Conference and ASEM Minister of Education Conference in 2009; ASEM Minister of Culture Conference in 2011; Energy Security Policies Forum in 2007 and ASEM Tourism Forum in 2008.
Mr. Vice-Prime Minister had a meeting with EC Commissioner for External Relations and high-rank representatives of security and normal external relations policies to exchange measures promoting bilateral relation.
