Pakistani tin plate users demand withdraw of AD duty

It is reported that Punjab Tin Plate Association & Punjab Tin Manufacturers have demanded of the Mr Shaukat Tareen finance minister of Pakistan and Mr Ahmad Waqar chairman of FBR to withdraw anti dumping duty imposed on import of tin plates into Pakistan.
Mr Mian Tasharraf Javed secretary general of Tin Can Manufacturers Association, Mr Zahir Ahmad Malik president of Punjab Tin Plate Association and Mr Chaudhry Muhammad Sajjad general secretary of Tin Plate Association have said that monopoly of Siddiq Sons has pushed the mentioned industries to the wall.
They said at the moment that “we are paying 20% custom duty, 16% sales tax, 2% income tax and 2% additional sales tax while M/s Siddiq Sons is paying nothing to the government but all departments concerned extending their best cooperation to him.
They said that importers are already paying PKR 32,500 custom duty, sales and other taxes on import of tin plate and know concerned departments have imposed further 12% to 40% anti dumping duty on the import of tin plate.
They informed that otherwise ghee industry, paint industry, confectioners, chemical industry, packaging industry, auto parts industry and cane manufacturers and many other industries would be destroyed.
