More evidence sought in mosquito coil dumping case

The Tariff Commission has asked a Cebu-based mosquito coil manufacturer to give more evidence of dumping of mosquito coils from Indonesia.
The TC in a report said Green Coil Industries Inc. (Green Coil), producer of mosquito coil under the brand "Katol" should submit additional evidence to prove anti-dumping case versus P.T. Johnson Home Hygiene Products (JHHP), producer of "Bygon" mosquito coil after it noted a small price difference between locally produced and export.
The TC said the export price is below the minimum threshold to cause an injury to the local producer. The calculated dumping margin for mosquito coil is $0.08 per case or 0.98 percent of export price, which is below the "de minimis" threshold of less than 2 percent as prescribed under Article 2.4 of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement when comparing normal value and export price.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) which endorsed the case to the TC last March for formal investigation., earlier ordered the imposition for a period of four months of a provisional anti-dumping duty amounting to $0.40 or 40 percent of the export price of mosquito coils manufactured and exported to the Philippines by JHHP based on data provided by the DTI’s Bureau of Import Services.
