ITC issues verdict on anti-dumping probe
05/12/2012 12:00
The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is to continue an anti-dumping investigation into hardwood plywood imports from China despite a variety of appeals by converters and associations.
After completing the preliminary investigation, launched at the request of six US plywood manufacturers, six commissioners appointed by the ITC unanimously backed continuing the investigation on 9 November.
The ITC believes that there are sufficient indications that the US plywood industry is being damaged by subsidised plywood from China that is sold below its actual value in the US.
The ITC thus intends to decide on preliminary countervailing duties close to 21 December. The determination of anti-dumping duties is scheduled for 6 March 2013.
