India launches anti-dumping investigation against China

Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry (IMCI) launched an anti-dumping investigation against sewing machine needles made in China on May 19, China's Ministry of Commerce announced on June 8.

This is the fifth investigation by India this year.

The Indian company Altek Beissel Needles Co., Ltd. (Altek) petitioned for the investigation on the Chinese products with custom code number 845230 imported from  April 2006 to December 2009.

According to IMCI, India imported the products worth $5.34 million from April to December 2009 from China. Investigation officials demand that interested parties submit relevant material within 40 days from June 7.

The investigation applicant claimed that BADI intends to value Chinese products in structural price, based on the Indian data, since China is a not a market economy country.

In March, Altek asked for another anti-dumpting investigaion against sewing machine needles made in China, the fourth investigation in 2010.
