India imposed 12 anti-dumping duties against China in FY10

India imposed anti-dumping duty on 12 products imported from China in 2009-10 to protect the domestic industry, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
The duty was imposed in seven cases in 2008-09 and 10 in the previous financial year, Scindia said in a written reply.
The Directorate of General of Anti Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) on duly substantiated petitions with evidence of dumping, initiate anti-dumping investigations.
On the recommendations of DGAD, the Finance Ministry imposes the duty.
In case a product is imported into the country at less than its normal value, causing injury to domestic industry, domestic players can make an application to the DGAD in the Commerce Ministry for imposition of anti-dumping duty.
