India: Anti-dumping duty on PVC extended by a year for 8 countries
11/12/2012 12:00
The Finance Ministry has extended by one year the validity of existing anti-dumping duty on polyvinyl chloride (suspension grade) imports from Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and the US.
The anti-dumping duty will now be valid until January 23, 2014. This duty impost was earlier slated to end on January 23 next year.
The revenue department’s latest move follows the Designated Authority’s initiation of sunset review in October this year and its request to extend the dumping duty for one more year.
The sunset review investigations were initiated based on a petition jointly filed by DCW Limited, ChemplastSanmar Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd and DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd. Finolex Industries Limited, the sole other known producer of PVC (suspension grade) in India too supported the petition.
The anti-dumping duty currently being levied varies according to the producer and the country of export.
