EU initiates expiry review on footwear with leather uppers from Vietnam and China
06/10/2008 12:00
The EU has initiated an expiry review of anti-dumping duties on footwear with leather uppers from Vietnam and the People’s Republic of China. This decision was made after the Commission received a request for review by the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) on 30 June 2008.
The request is based on the grounds that the expiry of measures would be likely to result in continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the Community industry.
The product under review is footwear with uppers of leather or composition leather, excluding sports footwear, footwear involving special technology, slippers and other indoor footwear and footwear with a protective toecap, originating in the People's Republic of China and Vietnam.
The findings of the review will not lead to the level of the existing measures being amended but will lead to those measures being repealed or maintained The investigation will be concluded within 15 months of the date of the publication of this notice in the Official Journal of the European Union.
