EC removes anti-dumping duty on Vietnam’s bicycles

The European Union (EU) has decided to end the anti-dumping duty levied on Vietnam’s bicycles exported to EU countries as of July 2010, according to the European Commission (EC).
The decision was made after many efforts by the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Belgium and the EU and after Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang sent a letter on this issue to EU Trade High Commissioner Karel De Guntch.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai paid a visit to the EC on June 18, during which he held talks with Karel De Guntch on strengthening the comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and the EU in the future as well as measures to boost bilateral ties in economics, trade and investment.
Deputy PM Hai also suggested the EU consider re-granting the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) to Vietnam and ending its anti-dumping duty levied on Vietnam’s leather shoes and bicycles exported to this market. (VNA)
