DOC initiates reviews of certain imported shrimp
16/04/2010 12:00
American shrimp associations have requested the Department of Commerce’s (DOC) International Trade Administration to conduct administrative reviews of the antidumping duty orders on certain frozen warmwater shrimp coming from Brazil, India and Thailand. The reviews of these orders will involve more than 300 companies located in these countries.
The anniversary month of these antidumping duty orders is February. DOC is initiating the administrative reviews in accordance with 19 CFR 351.221. The period to be reviewed is 1 February 2009 - 2 January 2010.
DOC received the timely requests from the Ad Hoc Shrimp Trade Action Committee (Domestic Producers), the American Shrimp Processors Association (ASPA) and the Louisiana Shrimp Association (LSA), plus certain individual companies last February.
In accordance with DOC’s statement in its notice of opportunity to request administrative reviews, the Department noted its failure to initiate administrative reviews of those companies that it was unable to locate, no longer exist or were found to be duplicates.
Following is a list of companies of which DOC has not initiated an administrative review requested by the Domestic Producers, the ASPA and the LSA, because these companies were revoked from the antidumping duty order on certain Thai frozen warmwater shrimp due to the partial revocation of the order, effective 16 January 16 2009.
The companies are Andaman Seafood Co, Ltd, Wales & Co Universe Limited, Chanthaburi Frozen Food Co, Ltd, Chanthaburi Seafoods Co, Ltd, Intersia Foods Co, Ltd (formerly Y2K Frozen Foods Co, Ltd), Phatthana Seafood Co, Ltd., Phatthana Frozen Food Co, Ltd, Thailand Fishery Cold Storage Public Co, Ltd, Thai International Seafood Co, Ltd, SCC Frozen Seafood Co, Ltd, and Sea Wealth Frozen Food Co, Ltd (collectively, the Rubicon Group); and Thai I-Mei Frozen Foods Co, Ltd.
DOC plans to issue the final results of its reviews by 28 February 2011.
