The U.S. Department of Commerce issued an antidumping order Friday on uncovered innerspring units from the People's Republic of China. The units are used in the manufacture of mattresses. The order, effective today, came after the International Trade Commission determined last week that Chinese-made innersprings had materially injured U.S. manufacturers of the item.
Seven Chinese producers received a "separate" duty rate of 164.75 percent. Those include Anshan Yuhua Industrial Trade Co. Ltd., Wuxi Xihuisheng Commercial Co. Ltd., Hebei Yililan Furniture Co. Ltd., Nanjing Dongdai Furniture Co. Ltd., Xilinmen Furniture Co. Ltd., Zhejiang Sanmen Herod Mattress Co. Ltd. and Zibo Senbao Furniture Co. Ltd.
Several manufacturers received the China-wide duty rate of 234.51 percent. Those include Foshan Jingxin Steel Wire & Spring Co. Ltd., High Hope International Group, Jiangsu Native Produce Import & Export Corp. Ltd. and Jiangsu Soho International Group Holding Co. Ltd.
The International Trade Commission instituted the investigation effective Dec. 31, 2007, following receipt of a petition filed with the Commission and the Department of Commerce by Leggett & Platt Inc., Carthage, Mo.
