Chinese tire shares plunge, driven by US tire tariff

Tire shares on Chinese stock markets plunged on Monday morning, the first trading session after the US government announced tariffs on Chinese imports.
The US will implement three-year tariffs on car and light-truck tires imported from China, beginning September 26th. China's Commerce Ministry says the decision is a serious act of trade protectionism and undermines Sino-US trade ties. The Chinese government has said it reserves the right to react to the move. The ministry has since launched an anti-dumping and subsidies investigation into imports of US poultry products and auto parts.
