China to Slash Levies Imposed on Nissan North America

BEIJING--China will cut an anti-dumping duty imposed on Nissan North America to 3.6% with effect from Thursday and will remove all anti-subsidy duties on the company, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement Wednesday.
The Ministry in December 2011 started levying anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on some vehicles manufactured in the U.S. with engine capacities above 2.5 liters. Duties on such imports ranged from 2.0% to 21.5% and were slated to last for two years, according to the ministry's previous statement.
Nissan North America was charged with a 21.5% anti-dumping duty and 12.9% anti-subsidy duty, according to the ministry's previous statement.
Nissan North America last year asked for a review on the duties, arguing that its exports to China only started after the investigation into dumping was started and that the company should be considered a new supplier.
