BEIJING (Dow Jones)--China's Commerce Ministry said in a preliminary ruling Wednesday it will require deposits to be set aside for X-ray security inspection equipment imports from the European Union after it found evidence of dumping.

From Thursday, companies importing such equipment from the EU will be required to set aside deposits with Chinese customs ranging from 48.2%-71.8% according to the level of dumping, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The EU is China's largest trading partner.
