Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has announced on 16th May that China will terminate its anti-dumping measures (ADM) against methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) imports originated from Japan, Taiwan and Singapore, if no dissenting petition arises from domestic industry representatives or individuals within 60 days prior to this decision.
The concerned anti-dumping duties were levied first from 22 November 2007. The MOFCOM had issued a Notice No. 81 in 2007 that it decided to execute the ADM on imported MEK for 5 years till 21 November 2012. According to Article 48 of the Anti-dumping Measures of P.R. China, if a review determines that the termination of the anti-dumping duties may result in the continuation or recurrence of the dumping and injury, the time limit for the levy of anti-dumping duties may reasonably be extended. Domestic industry or natural persons are entitled to apply for a petition on the final review to MOFCOM 60 days before the termination date.
