BEIJING, April 13 (Itar-Tass) - Beijing has announced that it imposes anti-dumping duties on steel imported from the USA and Russia, which is actively used in China’s energy industry. The amount of duties will be different, but the maximum figure will be 64.8 percent.

According to the Chinese Energy Ministry, “the dumping situation that has developed on the Chinese steel market causes major damage to the domestic economy”.

Rather low duties of 7.8 percent and 19.9 percent respectively will be imposed on American AK Steel Corp and Allegheny Ludlum Corp. The amount of duties for other steel suppliers from the USA will be maximal.

Major supplies from Russia – the Novolipetsk Metallurgic Works and the Viz-Stal company will have minimum taxation load in the amount of 6.5 percent, while the anti-dumping duties for the rest of Russian steel producers will make up 24 percent.

This policy has been triggered by the recent decision in the USA to slap anti-dumping duties on certain Chinese steel products in the amount of 99 percent. At the present moment Beijing and Washington try to settle serious economic contradictions concerning different goods on both markets.

The countries try to reach consensus and concentrate on more important and global problems, such as fight against the global financial crisis and the Iranian nuclear program, analysts say.
