Indian industry would like stronger action against dumping and finetuing of anti-dumping measures to protect Indian domestic producers, according to feedback from industry representatives and trade experts at a meeting here.
Speaking in an interactive seminar on anti-dumping, subsidies and WTO organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), company representatives and trade experts pointed out that India had seen one of the largest number of anti-dumping cases in the world.
There had been numerous anti-dumping cases in the last decade particularly in the chemicals and steel sectors, particularly from China. The government should be taking stronger anti-dumping measures, experts added.
The directorate general of anti-dumping (DGAD) initiated two fresh anti-dumping investigations on hot rolled coil and cold rolled steel about a week ago, said Mukesh Bhatnagar, director, ministry of commerce and industry.
