WTO Panel Rules Against EU in Steel Tariff Dispute

A WTO panel found the EU in violation of certain rules concerning anti-dumping tariffs on Indonesian stainless steel. Indonesia, asserting these tariffs significantly harmed its exports, brought the case in 2023.
The panel urged the EU to align its measures with international trade agreements.
A World Trade Organization panel delivered a ruling on Thursday (Oct 2nd), finding that the European Union violated certain WTO rules in its handling of anti-dumping tariffs on Indonesian stainless steel.
Indonesia initiated the dispute in 2023, claiming the EU's tariffs greatly diminished its steel exports.
The WTO panel has urged the European Union to adjust its measures in accordance with the agreement concerning subsidies and countervailing measures.
