Polyethylene terephthalate (‘PET’) - EU investigates anti-dumping measures

On 22 May 2025, the European Commission (‘the Commission’) announced that the initiation of an anti-dumping proceeding with regard to imports into the Union of PET originating in Vietnam.
I. Relevant Information
1. Date of initiation of investigation: May 22, 2025
2. Item under investigation: The product subject to this investigation is polyethylene terephthalate (‘PET’), having a viscosity of 78 ml/g or higher, according to ISO Standard 1628-5
3. Investigation period:
- The investigation of dumping and injury: 1 January 2024 - 31 December 2024
- The examination of trends relevant for the assessment of injury: 1 January 2021 to the end of the investigation period
4. Preliminary decision:
On December 19, 2025, the European Commission (EC) issued a preliminary notification, decided not to apply provisional anti-dumping duties to the products under investigation. The decision not to apply provisional anti-dumping measures does not affect the continuation of the investigation into PET plastic products. The investigation will continue and a final conclusion is expected in July 2026.
