14 countries and territories producing rice in the world will cooperate to sue America to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for its agricultural subsidies which damage their rice producers.
Mr. Pedro Diaz, Chairman of Mexico Rice Producer Union, Representative of Mexico at Latin America Rice Fund, revealed that information.
Rice producers from Argentina, Columbia, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Guyana, Senegal, Mexico, China and India cooperate with their government to collect evidence for taking legal action against America and the lawsuit may start this month.
Mexico is one of the countries which are most damaged by America agricultural subsidies. It once was rice self-supplier 17 years ago. Now 70% rice in Mexico is imported, mainly from America, because domestic rice can not compete with subsidized rice from America.
