Improving the capacity of fisheries industry as joining WTO

Project signing ceremony named “WTO accession: Building competence aiming to enhance good impacts on fisheries industry and reduce poverty of coastal areas” was held in the morning of 14th August in Hanoi.
The project was approved by the Prime Minister. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperating with the Vietnam Department of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) were assigned to build, approve, and sign project documents as well as launch the project.
The project had total amount of USD 250,000 and would be developed for one year in order to develop the ability of staff in state management agencies, exporting organization, producers of documents related to WTO’ accession and responsibility for complying with fishery and aquatic products when joining WTO.
Furthermore, the project brought benefits for all fishery fields by helping coastal fishermen communities gain more money, making better products through the improvement of treatment and processing technology, which made advantages for penetrating new market as well as updating, and guiding international rules and regulations relating to fishery./.
