According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in January 2026, Viet Nam's export turnover of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products was estimated at nearly 6.51 billion USD, an increase of 29.5% compared to the same period last year.

In terms of markets, Asia continues to be the largest export region for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, accounting for 45.3% of the market share. This is followed by the Americas with 22.7% and Europe with 13.4%. The African and Oceanian regions have modest market shares, at 2.6% and 1.4% respectively.

Compared to the same period last year, the value of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries exports to Asia in January 2026 is estimated to have increased by 41.1%; to the Americas by 22.4%; to Europe by 11.2%; to Africa by 21.6%; and to Oceania by 32.3%.

Looking at specific markets, China, the United States, and Japan are the three largest export markets for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, with market shares of 22.6%, 20.4%, and 7%, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, exports to China increased sharply by 66.1%, to the United States by 21.6%, and to Japan by 19.6%.

The agricultural export group that experienced strong growth in January 2026 included coffee, rubber, tea, rice, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, and pepper, with increases in both volume and value compared to the same period last year.

Coffee and rubber continued to play a leading role. Coffee exports reached approximately 180,000 tons, valued at $981 million; rubber exports reached 220,000 tons, valued at $416 million, both showing strong increases compared to the same period last year. The average export prices of these two commodities remained stable, with the main consumption markets concentrated in Europe and Asia.

Tea and rice exports recorded significant increases in both volume and value. Tea exports reached approximately 14,000 tons, worth $23 million; rice exports reached approximately 600,000 tons, worth $370 million. Although export tea prices decreased slightly, export value still increased thanks to improved production; while export rice prices increased by about 4%, averaging $616.6 per ton.

Fruits and vegetables continue to be a bright spot, with export turnover in January 2026 estimated at approximately $750 million, double that of the same period last year. China remains the largest market, alongside positive growth in the United States.

Cashew and pepper exports also maintained strong growth momentum. Cashew exports reached approximately 65,000 tons, valued at $434 million; pepper exports reached approximately 20,000 tons, valued at $133 million, both increasing by over 50% compared to the same period last year, despite a slight decrease in average export prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment stated that developing markets and promoting the consumption of agricultural products is a consistent solution for the sector. Specialized units continue to closely link production with the market, strengthen trade promotion, product advertising, and support businesses and cooperatives in expanding domestic and international markets.

Furthermore, the sector continues to restructure agriculture towards increasing added value, sustainable development, and ensuring food safety and traceability. This restructuring is not only limited to crop production, livestock farming, aquaculture, and forestry, but also encompasses the entire value chain, from production to processing and consumption, adapting flexibly to the requirements of each export market.
