E-commerce exports: A major driving force for the furniture and fashion industry

According to forecasts, Viet Nam's furniture and fashion industry exports will reach 110 billion USD in 2029 thanks to e-commerce exports.
Consulting firm Access Partnership (UK) has just released a report "E-commerce exports: New growth momentum for Viet Nam's furniture and fashion industry exports", forecasting that the total export turnover of the furniture and fashion industries could reach 110 billion USD by 2029.
In which, B2C e-commerce (enterprise to consumer) exports are expected to grow significantly faster than traditional export channels, with furniture exports through e-commerce (E-commerce) expected to grow by 20% per year and fashion reaching 26% per year.
The report forecasts that Viet Nam's furniture industry exports will increase from 343 trillion VND (14 billion USD) in 2024 to 540 trillion VND (22 billion USD) in 2029, of which B2C e-commerce exports are expected to grow twice as fast as the general rate of traditional exports in the industry.
For the fashion industry, export turnover is expected to reach 2,137 trillion VND (88 billion USD) by 2029, with e-commerce growing 5 times faster than traditional channels. The report also emphasizes that Viet Nam's solid production platform, with its position as one of the world's leading wood furniture exporting countries and developed textile and garment industry - is a key factor promoting the expansion of exports through digital channels.
These conclusions are consistent with the data of the cross-border e-commerce platform Amazon when statistically analyzing the growth rate of Vietnamese businesses on Amazon. In the 12 months as of July 31, 2025, the number of products sold by Vietnamese sales partners on Amazon increased by 35% compared to the same period last year, with prominent industries such as houses, kitchens, health & personal care, fashion and beauty - coinciding with Viet Nam's manufacturing strengths mentioned in Access Partnership's report.
Through research, experts also pointed out four main barriers affecting the ability to expand e-commerce exports of MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), including costs, complexity of regulations, gaps in knowledge and operating capacity - especially in supply chains and logistics.
Mr. Larry Hu, Amazon Global Selling Regional Director for Southeast Asia, said that Access Partnership's report provides an authentic and independent perspective on both large growth opportunities and the real challenges that Vietnamese businesses are facing in e-commerce exports.
In general, Vietnamese businesses are increasingly taking advantage of e-commerce to reach international customers, especially in industries such as furniture and fashion. These changes reflect the general trend mentioned in the report, showing the increasingly important role of digital channels in Viet Nam's export picture.
