Complaint by Chile.
On 5 August 1997, Chile requested consultations with the US in respect of a countervailing duty investigation initiated by the US Department of Commerce against imports of salmon from Chile. Chile contended that the decision to initiate an investigation was taken in the absence of sufficient evidence of injury, in violation of Article 11.2 and 11.3. Chile also contended a violation of Article 11.4, in relation to the representative status of producers of salmon fillets.
