China launches expiry review of anti-dumping duties on NPA imports from U.S.

China's Ministry of Commerce on Monday said that it will begin an expiry review of anti-dumping measures on n-Propanol (NPA) imported from the United States on Tuesday.

The decision follows an application submitted on Sept. 12, 2025, by domestic NPA producers representing the industry. They argued that terminating the anti-dumping measures could lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping and renewed injury to the domestic industry.

According to the ministry's announcement, the anti-dumping duties will remain in effect during the expiry review investigation.

The current duties were first imposed on Nov. 18, 2020, for a period of five years, with rates ranging from 254.4 percent to 267.4 percent.

The investigation is scheduled for conclusion before Nov. 18, 2026, the ministry said.

NPA is a colorless liquid used as a solvent and chemical intermediate. It is applied in food packaging inks and lithium-battery electrolyte components, and is an important raw material for pharmaceuticals, coatings, adhesives, cosmetics and other products.
