The China government has imposed anti-dumping and anti-subsidization tariffs on solar-grade polysilicon imported from the US, Europe and South Korea, but much of the US-produced polysilicon has been imported through export processing zones (EPZs) to evade such taxation and therefore China-based polysilicon makers have urged the China government to include polysilicon imported via EPZs in the scope of punitive taxation, according to industry sources in Taiwan.China imported 36,366 tons of solar-grade polysilicon during January-May 2014, 26,405 tons or 72.6% of which going through EPZs, the sources indicated. In the same period, 6,650 tons of polysilicon imported from the US entered through EPZs, accounting for 25.18% of total imports through EPZs, the sources said.
